What’s up Queen,
My name is Kate, I am a Nurse, Mom, Wife, and Entrepreneur.
I have been a nurse since 2015. My experience ranges anywhere from ICU to IR. So I completely understand where you’re coming from, and I’ve been there before. I was that burned-out, overworked, stressed-out, overstimulated working mom who knew I wanted something different. But had no idea how in the hell I was going to make that happen.
At first, I thought the answer was to go back to school. And I did.
However, after almost completing my DFNP, I realized I needed to do some inner work. After pouring myself into everything self-development, I finally figured it out.
This podcast and site are the fruits of all my labors. I must share with you what I have found so that I can save you from feeling the same way I was.
My promise is always to inspire and motivate you to reach for more. Listen to “you” and what “you” is saying.
You did not waste your time. You are right where you should be.
Where It All Started
When I first started this journey, multiple people talked about journaling as a way to gain clarity. They would speak about prompts to work through and even give you homework to journal.
Initially, I couldn’t get over the weird feelings. It was a little too much dear diary for me. Yet as I started to open up and become more comfortable with the process, that is when the magic really started to happen.
Journaling is such a powerful way to help dig through the noise and pinpoint ideas, work through problems, and make breakthroughs.
The first journaling exercise I did was to answer questions from one of my self-development books and I found it to be a great way to get the noise out of my head and onto the paper.
Once I found Rachel Hollis my whole view on journaling changed. Rachel had shared that her morning routine included journaling and as I implemented this practice daily, I found that I started to make some real progress in both rediscovering myself and finding clarity of what I wanted and where I wanted to go.
You already know how passionate I am about finding your why and making sure your vision is clear before you take action. I have a whole course developed specifically about this. The Clarity Course goes deep into this topic. If you’re interested in starting this journey towards your dream life, I would recommend you work through my course first. But, it’s also valuable if you’re well on your way into your journey but you’re feeling lost or like you need to refocus.
Journaling is a big part of my course and I want to share why this activity is so important to me.
All The Reasons I Love Journaling
Reason number 1: Journaling helps clear your mind.
Journaling like I said is a great way to braindump. Sometimes I like to use it when I’m unable to focus or there is just too much going on in my brain.
Simply grab your favorite blank journal and a pen. Some quiet spot and maybe music if that helps you focus, and dump everything out. Nothing is off limits, there are no edits, and you just allow your pen to flow and get those thoughts out onto the page.
Once you have finished take that deep breath and notice how you are feeling. I often notice a clear or light feeling. You may even notice a feeling of being energized, I love it when this happens. This is the magic at work.
Keep these pages handy for later though, I like to go back and reread these dumps. I often find so many ideas within these.
Reason 2: Reconnect to Your intuition.
Journaling is a way to reconnect with your intuition. Messages come to the forefront when I can clear my mind and slow the rapid thoughts that are swirling around in my brain at any given minute. I can ask a question and journal everything that is coming out. It is extremely useful in making breakthroughs. I like to write it all down because it gives me a way to be able to look back. These pages are very interesting when you go back a few years and re-read them.
Just like the brain dump, the key to success in this activity is to allow the message to flow. No judgment, no edits just write.
When it comes to connecting with your intuition, a great start is to ask why or ask yourself a question.
Maybe, what is the next right step? Allow yourself to stop and listen for the answer.
I like using why for my breakthroughs. I will think about a subject that feels yucky to me. For example, Money or spending a large amount of money. You think of this subject and ask why. Why do I feel this way? Write down whatever comes to mind.
I have an awesome blog post on rewriting your story that can help you break down your why and start living the story your way.
Reason 3: Manifesting
Manifesting is all about energy. Journaling can be used to help clear energy and build a picture for you. Have you ever read a book that you felt transported you into the story? So the idea, you can essentially create your own story that includes the manifestations you want to see come to life.
You can use journaling as a powerful manifestation practice. Here’s how ya do it. Grab a journal and your favorite pen. Think about what you want to call in. Then you are going to write these things down like they have already happened, make sure to be specific and timely.
You want to start your manifestation off by thanking the universe and showing gratitude for the manifestation. For example, I am so grateful and thankful that I was able to book a Disney cruise for my family this March of 2025. Just saying this is totally not one of my current running manifestations.
Another way to use journaling for manifestations is to write a letter to your current self from your future self. Write about everything that will happen and how amazing it was. Maybe write about what life looks like now for you and your family. Share big wins and maybe some struggles that you conquered. If you would like you can seal this letter and open it on a certain date (for example if you wrote from 1 year in the future).
Reason 4: Possibilities are endless.
Journaling has the potential to help you reach an elevated state.
I want to make sure though that you are feeling comfortable with journaling and really able to unleash, so here are your action steps to take right now.
Go get a journal. Make it fancy or plain but just do it. My go-to is the Amazon Essentials blank journal. It’s cheap and it comes in every color under the sun. great value and it’s cute.
Next, grab some pens that make you feel like your hand is floating. Something that makes you excited to write.
Now, Set your space up. Make sure you’re comfortable and able to focus. You may want to have music playing or a candle. Whatever helps you focus and relax.
Try journaling for a short period every day. Initially commit to 3 days or a week. Once you get a hang of it, journaling will become an essential part of your routine. I find the best time for me is in the morning, but nighttime journaling is a great activity if you find yourself having restless nights. Again, clear your mind before bed.
Now that you are ready to start try one of the activities that I listed above.
My Tips For Journaling Beginners
