Hello again, My name is Kate Avery and if you’re new here, just a little background info for you, I have been a Nurse since 2015, I’m a mother of 3, an entrepreneur coach, and so much more.
Over the last few years, I started to notice how nursing was not fitting the needs of my growing family. So I decided enough was enough and I embarked on this journey to find a better way. This has included countless self-help books, multiple courses, and a deep dive into figuring out what the heck I wanted.
Now, I started this podcast to inspire and motivate you, if you also feel the burnout of nursing while supporting a growing family. Then you’re in the right place. Let’s build our dream life together.
Every week I share my adventures and I share hard lessons I have learned along the way. Make sure you follow the podcast and download the episodes every Friday, you can also follow me on Instagram at Inspirern. but most importantly I have started a new blog and I would love your thoughts, so go check it out at inspirern.com
Another Year Of Change
Every year I participate in the glow-up challenge that Angie Bellemare puts on. She is an inspirational figure who has a goal/ productivity planner and home decor company. I love her planners they are called the Daily Grind. I have shared them before and I find that I am so much more focused and clear about my goals and what needs to be done to accomplish them when I consistently use the planners.
Every year she does a glow-up challenge. Last year I focused on my self-care and adapted a skin care routine that I still use today. Which is huge for me.
I loved the idea of creating habits for you and that’s a lot of what the glow-up is. Finding yourself as the focus.
Life can get busy and as women and nurses, we are great at putting our own needs last. So make sure that you’re drinking your water. Using meditation and journaling daily. Focusing on hitting our workout goals can be extremely powerful and create a great shift that you might be craving in your life right now.
If you are interested I will link her YouTube channel here. So follow her, support her, and check out this glow-up challenge.
I do want to do one for us in January, I think it would be awesome to do a refocus and goal setting for the new year but I would love for it to centered around nurses and moms specifically. So leave me a comment, DM me I want to hear your thoughts.
Just explain the challenge a little more, She posts a video every day on her YouTube channel and talks you through different aspects of growth. She talked about labels today and one day she talked about setting your goals for this challenge. Things like this, where you’re refocusing your mindset. It inspired me to share this concept with you today about becoming the lucky girl. Every year I come through this challenge feeling motivated, fired up, and ready to conquer the world.
I want you to feel the same way.
I’m Inspired To Inspire You
The idea of creating this image of you. A future you let’s say. One who gets what she wants, one who is confident and powerful. The woman who hits the goals and has the life of your dreams. The lucky one.
Using this idea you can reframe your mindset and move forward towards your big goals. I have discussed the concepts of stories before and I’ll link this episode in the show notes but this is a similar idea or another way to rewrite a story essentially. You are creating this image so that when you feel scared or fearful you can take a deep breath and step into her shoes. Feel that power and start to move forward. This has gotten me through a lot of tough spots in my life and I want you to use this tool in the future.
Here are the steps you need to take to make this happen
Don’t Stop Believin
Have you ever stopped to think about your goals, maybe the ones that you’re not quite hitting yet? Do you believe you can achieve these goals? I know it sounds silly but it’s a valid question. Do you believe you can achieve this goal? Do you believe that the ideal version of you, the lucky girl can achieve this goal? Yes, of course you do.
The battle starts when you realize that you have to believe you are the lucky girl, that you are her. This is a powerful mindset shift that will need to happen for you to embody HER. you have to know that no matter the outcome it will always be in your favor because you are the lucky one. You have to take action knowing that your goals are being achieved right now.
I want you to focus on your actions and start taking them from that mindset of hers. She assumes that everything will be just as she imagined or better cause she is lucky and everything great happens to her.
If you’re struggling to find what the next step is. Pause and step into her shoes. Now while embodying this energy, what do you need to do? Remember she has no fear or shame of judgment because everything works out.
If you are beginning to feel like this is a little bit too much, I want you to try this exercise next.
I’ll Prove It To You
Everyone is lucky. Everyone has had amazing accomplishments in their life. You may feel like that statement is untrue, but let me prove it to you.
I want you to take a minute whether you’re driving in your car or you’re at home and can journal. Can you think of some moments when you were amazed by what you accomplished? Is there something hard that you seriously doubted if you could do it? But you made it through and you smashed that goal.
I know a lot of you are nurses here. How about nursing school? That was a lot and there were many times that I questioned if I wanted this. If I could make it through. If I was being told by god to just give it up and move on. But I stuck with it. I listened to my gut and I have been a nurse for almost 10 years now.
Let’s fast forward. I am completing my doctorate. I am extremely lucky and everything has worked out in my favor or even better than I could imagine. Now yes, I could sit here and complain about how long it took me. I could be sad that all my friends have been NPs for years now, and I’m still in school. There will always be a shadow and a light side to everything. Which side will you focus on?
Assess Your Life
Now, Look at your life. Look at your accomplishments, and note a few of those. I want you to pause and reflect. Feel the gratitude for you. You worked extremely hard and it took a lot of guts to keep going. You are already such a powerful woman. All of these situations have proven that. I want you to notice that you are Her, you’re the lucky one. You may need some more convincing but it’s the truth.
I know there are a million examples of this in your life. When you look for confirmation you will find it. Whether it is something good or bad you are looking for, it’s there and your brain does a really good job of finding it. So focus on the positive, focus on the light and you will see your mindset shift into this powerhouse that you truly are.
Don’t Lose That Feeling
Ya know when are making a snowball, and it finally gets rolling and it starts to pick up speed and it gets bigger and bigger? Eventually, you feel this pride for how big your snowball has gotten. I bet you questioned the process and the work in the beginning. It’s freezing and your hands are getting cold, but you want to build a huge snowball. Reframing your mindset and using this tool of stepping into the lucky one takes practice and time, just like building the snowball. So keeping the momentum is key to creating a lasting shift.
I want you to keep this powerhouse feeling going and watch the progress begin. I have a few suggestions on how you can keep the good feelings flowing. Many of these I use daily.
Affirmations
My favorite way is by creating a few affirmations for yourself. I created a list of empowered affirmations that I use.
Use these affirmations to post on your mirror, in your car, and my favorite as alarms on your phones. I have a whole episode on how to use affirmations.
Recite these affirmations to yourself often though. I like to do it in the morning when I am journaling. It helps me start my day off strong.
Can I remind you though, to give yourself grace? We all have good and bad mental health days. Take rest when you need to take rest. These affirmations will take time to truly take effect but with practice and daily reminders of your greatness, you will begin to see the progress.
The mental shift is the hardest part of achieving a goal. Yeah sometimes goals can take a long time but if you are not mentally in your lucky girl’s shoes. It’s very easy to talk yourself out of achieving the goal, no matter how big or small it is.
Moving through the process of proving your power and then implementing daily reminders, you are going to start seeing yourself as the lucky girl.

Now, Take that Lucky Girl energy and get focused. Make a clear plan and move forward toward your dream life.
You are capable of doing anything you set your mind to and I want you to believe that you can. No matter how long or how many times you pause. Take one step forward and keep moving. Progress is the goal.
