When you imagine your dream life, your vision, does any fear or resistance come up? When you think about living this life, how does that feel to you? Fear is completely normal and oh-so-common. It has the power to hold us back from taking risks that need to be taken in order for us to reach our full potential. In today’s episode, I am going to talk to you about fear and how to reframe those thoughts so that you can overcome it and move forward.

Hello again, My name is Kate Avery and if you’re new here, just a little background info for you, I have been a Nurse since 2015, I’m a mother of 3, I’m an entrepreneur coach, and so much more. Over the last few years, I started to notice how nursing was not fitting the needs of my growing family.
So I decided enough was enough and I embarked on this journey to find a better way. This has included countless self-help books, multiple courses, and a deep dive into figuring out what the heck I wanted. Now, I started this podcast to inspire and motivate you, if you also feel the burnout of nursing while supporting a growing family. Then you’re in the right place. Let’s build our dream life together.
Every week I share my adventures and I share hard lessons I have learned along the way. Make sure you follow the podcast and download the episodes every Friday, you can also follow me on Instagram at Inspirern.
What Is A Fear Block?
Blocks are beliefs that are powered by our subconscious. They are those limits that you have learned or that were passed down from generation to generation. Thoughts like, you have to be really smart to go to college, or we are not a rich family. These beliefs are hard to get through but not impossible.
Fear comes up for me whenever I am pushing up against a belief.
What is fear? Fear is an emotion that is meant to keep us safe. Fear stops us from jumping off a bridge because, well, that doesn’t go so well for many people. But fear can also stop you from launching that business or even posting on social media. Fear stopped me from creating an offer for over a year.
Reframing your mindset is a powerful way to move these beliefs aside and overcome your fear. This work is something that needs to be continuously looked at. Reframing your beliefs will continue to be a thing as new blocks are discovered or new situations arise. It’s an ongoing battle.
Yet, developing the awareness of fear and the tools to move through that fear is where the success lies.
Building Your Awareness of Fear
When a fearful thought comes into your mind, do you allow that thought to take seed and grow or do you quickly acknowledge the fear and move forward?
I will guess that it’s mostly the first situation, and until I learned how to reframe my thoughts, I was the same way.
Awareness is where everything starts. How can you grow or improve in anything if you’re not aware of the way you think or react in response to it?
Developing awareness comes at all different levels. As you grow and learn more about yourself you will begin to see that your awareness changes. I admit that my awareness has grown and I have learned to notice my response to my emotions much more through this work.
When it comes to approaching your fear, there has to be a moment when you realize there is no actual danger in the situation. Then use the tools that you will learn today to move forward and reframe your thinking. Our fear in business is not warning us of injury or death. It is simply saying that this is uncomfortable, scary, and going to push the envelope so don’t do it.
My biggest fear is failure. I also fear being seen for someone that I am not. And the last fear that I recently discovered is the fear of not being the best or smartest in the room. That fear held me back from launching offers and truly expanding what I was capable of. I find myself holding back or procrastinating and not committing 100%.
This leads me to my next point…
Where Is The Fear Coming From
Figure out where the fear is coming from
When you create a vulnerable video online, and you feel that fear right before you hit “post”. What does it say? Do you know what the root cause of your fear is?
Half the battle of breaking your blocks on fear is to figure out why you are having this fear. I don’t mean to say you need to find the exact moment when you learned that being vulnerable with others was scary. But figuring out why you have this powerful fear that is holding you back is important. Maybe when you were young, you got in trouble for being vulnerable, or something bad happened because of it. This is more of the conclusion you’re looking for. Draw a connection between the belief and the fear.
Reframing Is The Name Of The Game
Guess what, it’s journal time.
So I would like you to take some time and think about a situation that happened recently that made you feel resistant or fearful. Ask yourself what were you afraid of. Keep that thought process going until you have had the ah-ha moment and you are comfortable with the discovery you have made. If you feel like you could dig deeper, by all means, do it.
You are going to use these beliefs to reframe the situation and help you move through the fear.
This is how you reframe your mindset. Use positive present tense language.
Here is an example
Let’s look at the fear of posting something vulnerable.
You can reframe your thoughts from no one wants to hear this, it is a waste of time.
To: I am creating a community of supportive, inspiring women that go after their dreams.
Reframing takes lots of practice. I am still working on it and I have been focusing on reframing my language for at least 6 months now.
It’s all about being in the energy of that thing you’re going after.
You have to see the goal as already yours and you need to embody that feeling. It’s amazing how the anxiety and fear can melt away when you stay in the energy.
My Results
I have worked a lot on my fears and beliefs over the last few months and noticed a transformation in my thinking.
If you haven’t noticed I launched 3 new offers and another one is on the way.
My reframed though is I am calm, confident, and creative. Resting gives me the energy to create at my highest potential. I am innovative and limitless.
When I act from this place I see a whole new world open up. More opportunities and chances to put myself out there.
I don’t want you to live in the safety of your fear zone.
Use these tools to reframe some of the thoughts that seem to hold you back or make you pause.
Write at least 2 of them down and focus on living in the energy of your reframed thoughts.
There are some awesome opportunities coming your way very soon. I have been working on the 3 month transformation program which the doors will open on January 15th for a limited time and you will learn more next week about my new year workshop. I am super excited to share them with you.
