Hello again, My name is Kate Avery. I have been a Nurse since 2015, I’m a mother of 3, I’m an entrepreneur coach, and so much more.
Over the last few years, I started to notice how nursing was not fitting the needs of my growing family. So I decided enough was enough and I embarked on this journey to find a better way. This has included countless self-help books, multiple courses, and a deep dive into figuring out what the heck I wanted.

Now, I started this podcast to inspire and motivate you, if you also feel the burnout of nursing while supporting a growing family. Then you’re in the right place. Let’s build our dream life together.
Every week I share my adventures and the hard lessons I have learned along the way.
Make sure you follow the podcast and download the episodes every Friday on Apple, Spotify, and YouTube.

In the Beginning of My Business
The hardest part of my growth was taking a course and having them recommend some platform that cost $500/m when my budget was more along the lines of $50 a month or even more realistic $0.
No Gatekeeping here, I want you to be able to get the best bang for your buck and so I am going to share all of the tools that I personally use and love.
Get Your Business Out There
In order for others to know what you’re doing, you have to tell them. People are not mind readers, as much as we would like them to be.
You have to share your product with your audience, so you need to get in front of people.
Once you have figured out your WHO, WHAT, WHERE, and HOW (if you missed last week’s episode, I’ll tag it here), you need to get sharing.
The first tool you will need is to create a social media account. I prefer Instagram, but you can choose whichever you are most comfortable with. Before you choose think about where your audience hangs out the most. This will save you a lot of hassle later on.
Setting up a social media account is free and the idea here is to share your story and engage with your audience. Don’t worry about selling at this time, you need to build a relationship with your audience first.
This step can be quick, but it also can take a little bit of time to find your people. Trust me, I tried to rush this step and now I am paying the price. There is no free pass, the only way is through it. Take the time to tell your story and why you are creating this product or solving their problem. Then engage with them. Make new friends and keep sharing. Making yourself relatable is important to your audience.
Build The List To Feed Your Business
Building an email list is the single best choice you can make as a business owner. Yup, you’re a business owner now.
This is a two-parter step.
First, you’ll need to pick an email service provider.
I use Kit as my email service provider. I love this platform because it is free for up to 10,000 subscribers. So for a first-timer, this platform it’s awesome.
Your second step is to purchase your personalized email. I grabbed mine through Google Workspace. It runs me $18 a month and I like it because I am used to using Google. I already know how to use to calendar, drive, etc. When I priced it out for this episode, it said it costs $7.20/ M so just keep those two numbers in mind for your budget.
Why Do I Need A List For My Business
The reason you need an email list is because social media followers are awesome, it’s a great place to find your people, but you do not own the platform. So if everything crashes, aka TIK TOK, you potentially could lose your whole audience in one fail swoop. hundred and thousands of potential buyers, gone in one second.
If you can move these people off the platform and into your email list, you have a whole new way to reach them. Also, email lists convert buyers at a higher rate than posting on social alone.
To move your audience onto your list, think of a free offer that would get your people to say “Yes here is my email now give me that download”.
Give Them A Way To Pay You
If you never give them a chance to pay you, you’ll never make any money.
Sign up for a selling platform once your audience is engaged and you have your digital product ready to go.
Here are two ways you can approach this.
Option 1
A stan store. This will run you $29.00/month after their 14-day free trial. I think Stan is a great first option because you can operate this storefront without a website. It gives your audience a place to purchase and connect to you without the added cost and hassle of creating a website.
Option 2
Create a website. A website can run you around $100-$200 for a build your own site. Once you have a website built you will need to use a service like Stripe or I use Checkout which is $29.00/per month. You can house your landing pages on this site, but they are all links, so no standing site per se.
Don’t Be A Kate, Buy Your Business Domain
Let me tell you a story of a girl named KATE.
She once created a travel blog. She built the webpage, the social, and even a YouTube channel. Yet, then she decided to pivot to help more healthcare providers build their own businesses. She neglected this business for a few years and even let the domain go. Thinking who is going to buy that name… Years later she decided to renew the name and continue to build the blog now that she had more time. But, the opportunity had passed and someone in China had bought her site. So Poor kate had to revamp her whole idea and start from scratch.
Don’t be a KATE
However, if you want to do this is up to you. You can grab your domain when you purchase your personalized email name. Through Google it was $12.
You can also purchase your domain when you start building your website. I use Bluehost and wordpress.org to house my website. Through Bluehost the domain was $25, usually you will get a discount on your hosting plan when you purchase your domain. These sites are built on your own which is much easier than you would think, but again when you have limited time I wouldn’t choose to build a site first. Gain some traction with your audience and start selling. Then you can buy a website hosting plan and get creative.
Get Creative and Build Your Digital Products
Now you have your audience fueled up and you have given them a place to buy your product. You need to create your product now. I use Canva to do this.
Canva has to be the best place to build out your digital products by far. The pro version gives you access to education, stock photos, and all of their bells and whistles. A yearly subscription is $119 for one person.
The Total To Launch Your Business Is…
The grand total for the basics to launch your digital-product-based business in 2025 is less than $200. This is the price without the website, which I feel you should wait until you are up and running. This whole process took me a total of 2 hours to set everything up. Yes, it will take you time to create your product and freebie but this is the essentials to getting started.
I can make this whole this easier. Download the FREE Digital Product Cheatsheet and have all of this information at your fingertips.
