What’s up Queen,
My name is Kate, I am a Nurse, Mom, Wife, and Entrepreneur.
I have been a nurse since 2015. My experience ranges anywhere from ICU to IR.
I understand where you’re coming from, and I’ve been there before. I was that burned-out, overworked, stressed-out, overstimulated woman who knew she wanted something different. But what the hell do ya do?
At first, I thought the answer was to go back to school. And I did.
However, after almost completing my DFNP, I realized I needed to do some inner work. After pouring myself into everything self-development, I finally figured it out.
This podcast and site are the fruits of all my labors. I must share what I have found with other women who are feeling the same way I was.
My promise is to always inspire and motivate you to reach for more. Listen to “you” and what “you” is saying.
You did not waste your time. You are right where you should be. Right now is perfect.
In this episode, I am going to be tackling establishing goals (or intentions if that feels better in your body). I talked all about how our words hold power and how changing the word can change the meaning in your mindset. Check out episode 16. Just binge this whole podcast, you can find all of our shows here.
Establishing Goals The Right Way
I have had so many conversations lately about the best way to accomplish your goals and really how to make them obtainable. Establishing goals in the right way. Through my research, I have found a lot of interesting concepts when it comes to goal setting, and I feel like everyone has an opinion. But I am here because I have had a lot of big and small goals throughout my life. Some have some very easy to me and others were a result of a failure pivot.
These conversations prompted me to try to create something for you that will help you develop the connection you need to be able to tackle your goals.
Drummmmm rolllll ? ??
I now have a 30-days goal prompted journal (Clarity Journal) that is going to help you sift through all of the noise and find out what goals you want to accomplish.
In this journal, you’ll also develop tools that will help you keep the ball rolling when the going gets tough. I know you can all pinpoint a time when you were just rocking that progress towards your goal and then something happened and it just threw you off your stride. These tools will help you to re-group and continue to push on toward your results.
Being completely honest, this is the journal that will have you saying “Holly shit I actually did it”. It is super focused on giving you the prompts to dig deeper and make sure that your why is strong when it comes to your goal.
Why Shouldn’t Wait For The New Year
A lot of you like to make things even, so you start your new goals at the begining of the year. If it’s April and you want to establish a new goal to start a business. Do you see how much time you are wasting of you life when you wait for the right time.
There is no better time to start than now.
This journal should be completed whenever the inspiration strikes. The Journal is a great addition to your yearly planning and I want to use it every quarter to make sure I am accomplishing my goals with laser focus.
So in the next 15 minutes we are going to explore why you need to have a deep connection with your goals so that you can finally accomplish them.
Form A Relationship With Your Goals
How many times have you set a goal with a friend, after a few months you keep thinking “Why am I even doing this I don’t want this”. A great example is weight loss or exercise goals. Yes, having a partner in crime is a great way to motivate you, but motivation is only going to get you so far. Your goals need to contribute to the bigger picture. They need to be feeding your dreams.
Your dream develops at different stages of your life. Many times you start with an idea and you may think “Well that would be nice”. But as you grow and move towards that idea, your vision may blossom into so much more. So making goals that fit that timeline but are still pushing you forward is extremely important.
In this journal, the first think you are going to do is really get honest with yourself about what you want. A big hurdle that I had to jump when I first started out on the journey and honestly still have to remind myself of today, is the fact that I am allowed to want what I want. I don’t need to feel guilty about my wants, I don’t need to want something because someone else wants them. We are all so influenced by the outside world that sometimes the voice inside is quiet. So declaring what that voice wants is really important to identifying the goals you want to achieve.
What About The Over-Achievers?
Let’s pause for the over-achievers, If you are here learning how to establish goals the right way, You are an over-achiever.
Anyway, I often felt guilty for wanting to build a multimillion-dollar company. I felt silly about that dream or goal, I felt silly about talking about this even with my fellow entrepreneurs, but especially in the medical field. This is a vision of mine. I would love to have helped so many of you that I am forced to grow this company in order to reserve more of you.
No Dream is Too Big and No Dream is Too Small, It Is Yours.
I know I have been using dream and goal interchangeably because I just see a goal as a stepping stone to building your own dream life.
The first step in this journey is to unapologetically declare what you want with no judgments, no BS, and no negative thoughts about what you want. Allow yourself to want it.
This is so important to making sure your moving towards your end vision.
If I am sounding too preachy let me reframe it this way. If your goal right now is to pay off debt, you need to make this run deeper. You have to paint that bigger picture. So is paying off debt ultimately so you can invest and use your funds to retire early, or is it so you can buy a home…
Ya see what I am doing? You need to start dreaming big and far and allow yourself to want it. Then you rewind and establish goals that will be the stepping stones towards that vision.
This is a big bite of the process, next week I am going to share how finding alignment with your values impacts your goal setting.
It was so great to talk to all of you, I am so grateful for this community.
Until next week
