What are your favorite parts about starting a new year? Is it that it’s a fresh start? How about creating your vision board or even just dreaming up some new goals? I love the new year, but I also know that for some of you, a new year is a time for stress. It’s an unfriendly reminder of what you didn’t achieve this year or maybe even for the last few years. But it doesn’t have to be that way. In today’s episode, I am going to share with you how I prep for the new year, and I am even going to share what I have planned for 2025.
Hello again, My name is Kate Avery and if you’re new here, just a little background info for you, I have been a Nurse since 2015, I’m a mother of 3, I’m an entrepreneur coach, and so much more. Over the last few years, I started to notice how nursing was not fitting the needs of my growing family.
So I decided enough was enough and I embarked on this journey to find a better way. This has included countless self-help books, multiple courses, and a deep dive into figuring out what the heck I wanted. Now, I started this podcast to inspire and motivate you, if you also feel the burnout of nursing while supporting a growing family. Then you’re in the right place. Let’s build our dream life together.
Every week, I share my adventures, and I share hard lessons I have learned along the way. Make sure you follow the podcast and download the episodes every Friday; you can also follow me on Instagram at Inspirern.
Last year I dropped an episode about my New Year rituals and It was very eye-opening to go back and listen to that episode again. Although it may have been awkward, it was extremely helpful for me to see the amount of growth I have had over this year. Sometimes it’s beneficial to remind yourself that you are making progress no matter how big or small. If you have ever done a fitness challenge, think about the before and after pictures. Sometimes we never realize the progress that has been made, until we reflect.
For this year, I remind you that the only goal we all have is to continue to make progress forward. We will continue to move and work through the rough times because the only way to succeed is to keep going.
If you have been feeling stuck or stagnated in your goals over the last few months. The new year is a great refresh and a chance to get clear on what you want. Tightening up those goals and attacking them with focus and consistency is the key to your success in 2025.
Get Clear On What You Want In The New Year.
Did you know that when you find yourself in a slump or stuck on a goal it is usually because your goal isn’t clear enough?
Motivation and excitement can only carry your goal so far and when it comes to getting through the slow parts, that is where your goal will die.
Gaining clarity on what you want is the best way to ensure that you will have success when you look back in Dec 2025.
I have a few suggestions on how you can do this. My favorite way is to journal and let your imagination just flow. When you journal for clarity, it’s important to envision every little detail. the more realistic this vision feels, the better chance you will have to make this dream a reality.
This is not to say, that I want you to stick to a realistic vision. NO. I want it to be as far out there as you can imagine. What I mean is I want this vision to feel real. Smell the flowers in your yard. Feel the softness of the couch in your living room. Look into your reflection in the mirror of your amazing bathroom. Paint the picture that you will live in.
I put together a FREE Vision Builder workbook to get you through this practice with ease. It has journal prompts that will guide you to develop the vision you see in your mind and translate that into your journal.
The second option is to grab a copy of my How to Create the Life You Love workshop. This 40-minute class is going to give you a deeper dive into assessing what you didn’t like about this last year and then help you create the vision that you want to see in the new year. The workshop is a lot more in-depth than the workbook, both will help you develop your vision in the end.
This exercise is so important for setting yourself up for success. You don’t have to do this in the new year, you can do it at any time and I suggest refocusing and getting clear when you start to feel frustrated or stuck. These exercises are a great way to reignite that flame of motivation and to pivot if need be.
So either download the Free workbook or Grab a copy of my workshop.
Vision Board Are More Than Magic
How do you feel about vision boards? Have you ever created one?
For the last few years, I have religiously created a vision board during Angie Bellemare’s live party. It’s a ton of fun, she goes live on YouTube and we all create a vision board together.
I love the act of dreaming up your year and creating a visual reminder of what you are striving for.
Until recently, I have had people say that vision boards are silly and unrealistic. Maybe, but then I found The Source, where Dr. Tara Swart shares all of her life’s research behind vision boards and the power of your mind. So eye-opening especially for a medical professional who loves to see the research and to see “Woo Woo” practices verified is awesome.
So here is what she has to say about vision boards in a nutshell. When you can place a high value on something, AKA your desire, it is constently in the forefront of your brain. You will work towards that goal and will see it accomplished because you are reminded of that desire every day. For example, time with your kids. It’s a priority that you make happen no matter how busy you get. A vision board essential does the same thing. It reminds you every day of what you want and it creates a priority for those goals.
My favorite fact about a vision board is that it helps you visualize your desires and dreams. Who doesn’t want to wake up in their dream life? I know I do if I could wake up tomorrow with a million-dollar company, a full team to help me manage everything, a few trips to Disney booked, and the knowledge that I am free to live a life of joy. Who wouldn’t want this?
We have to create this vision and be able to feel that it is real, with that energy you take action toward those goals. That is how a vision board accelerates your dreams.
In January, I am going to take you through my vision board process live. It is going to be a lot of fun so bring your creativity and some strong coffee cause we are gonna get down to business. The doors open to register on January 6th at 10 am. Watch your email box for an invite and let me know if you have any questions beforehand.
You’re already doing the prep work for this workshop by listening to this episode. Great job!
Set Your Eyes On The Prize
Do you set goals every year that just fizzle out by mid-January?
Not this year you don’t.
As I shared earlier, the purpose of a vision board is to continuously remind you of what you desire and to prioritize those desires. It’s a way to keep your motivation up even on the tough days.
Once you create a vision board the key is to keep it in view. I put mine as my background for my computer and even my phone. Some like there’s on their mirror, or by their bed. I find it really helpful to have it on my computer because this is where I do the work, that will lead me to my vision.
So where are you going to place yours?
What I Have Planned For 2025
Finally, I have some big things planned in 2025.
On my vision board this last quarter, I have a few unaccomplished desires that will be placed on the first quarter vision board. I like quarterly vision boards because they allow me to micro-focus on smaller goals. Think of my Stepping Stone Method but for a vision board essentially.
I am launching the coaching program in the new year so that is on there. There are pictures of a Disney cruise and an adult tropical-type vacation. I have a new car on there and a lot of adult dinners with friends and my hubby. Tons of trips with the family and just lots of family fun. I like to add a few words as well so those will be included.
I will create my vision board live with all of you. So mark your calendars and watch those inboxes for your invite. If you’re not on the email list. I’ll drop the link so you can join. Otherwise, on January 6th the doors are open and we will meet up live on January 15th.
To get ahead, download your free workbook and start working through the prompts that will give you the vision you will need to build the vision board and set the goals that will be accomplished in 2025.
I can not wait to see what you dream up.
