Hello Queen,
My name is Kate, I am a Nurse, Mom, Wife, and Entrepreneur.
I have been a nurse since 2015. My experience ranges anywhere from ICU to IR.
I understand where you are coming from, and I’ve been there before. I was that burned-out, overworked, stressed-out, overstimulated woman who knew she wanted something different. But what the hell do you do?
At first, I thought the answer was to go back to school. And I did.
However, after almost completing my DFNP, I realized I needed to do some inner work. After pouring myself into everything self-development, I finally figured it out.
This podcast and site are the fruits of all my labors. I must share what I have found with other women who are feeling the same way I was.
My promise is to always inspire and motivate you to reach for more. Listen to “you” and what “you” is saying.
You did not waste your time. You are right where you should be. Right now is perfect.
Poor Leadership = Amazing Nurepenruer
This is a really interesting topic and rather hot because I am calling out some people. But it must be done to remind all of you how badass you are and if your dream is to create a business of your own, you already have the skills and are totally capable.
We have all worked with some poor managers, it just happens and no one is perfect but that gift that you get with a poor manager is leadership skills.
I have had several poor managers and some really amazing managers. But the skills you learn from both will help you build that next chapter of your life.
When you become a nurse you start to learn how to manage your patient load. Then you learn how to manage and help others (hopefully), and you may become charge where you get to help manage the floor and patient assignments.
Some facilities have a Nurse ladder-type program where they give you some leadership courses in order to pat their own backs and say they have nurse leaders.
Anyways, no matter which way you develop the skills, nurses are in charge of a lot. Really a lot of lives. So no better way than to learn these skills and transfer them to your own business. Let me show you how.
Managing and organizing your day is a skill you will need as a business owner.
In nurse life, you get your assignment and your triage who needs to be seen first. Right. You assess the needs of these patients, document their conditions, and find solutions (for example you call the doctor for Lasix for overload).
Now you have a business. You organize your day on what priorities are most important in the day-to-day running of your company, you triage needs as they come in, assess what might be missing, and address and find solutions for those problems.
Here’s another one, Problem resolution.
In nurse life, your patient is brought up from the EC on a strange drip that you have never worked with before. What do you do? You research and ask fellow nurses how to manage the patient.
Guess what? You’re building the skills to be able to research and ask mentors or communities about the knowledge you may be lacking. A great example would be building a website. You can take a course or research how to do it on your own. But you have already built that muscle to be able to flow into the solution, instead of being stuck for months on the same issue.
This was the biggest ah-ha moment when I realized that nursing really has prepared me to be an awesome entrepreneur.
We have built communication skills, and we are very comfortable speaking to people in difficult situations.
We know how to educate and communicate important information in the easiest-to-understand ways.
We are great at picking out the needs and providing solutions.
Have you realized yet that you are so ready and capable of creating that dream business or should I keep going? I could literally be here all day.
